There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Chalons-Reims (6-8) won against at home 10th ranked Hyeres-Toulon (6-8) 80-75 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 5 points. Chalons-Reims dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Hyeres-Toulon's 26. Chalons-Reims forced 19 Hyeres-Toulon turnovers. Dutch center Nicolas de Jong (210-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points. American swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI, agency: Two Points) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. William Howard (201-93) replied with 23 points and the former international center Ferdinand Prenom (203-91) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Hyeres-Toulon. Five Chalons-Reims and four Hyeres-Toulon players scored in double figures. Hyeres-Toulon's coach Kyle Milling let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Chalons-Reims moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Hyeres-Toulon. Chalons-Reims will face Le Portel (#11) on the road in the next round.
