Regular Season Round 10: Al Shamal - Al Khor 82-69

Bottom-ranked Al Khor (0-5) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to ninth ranked Al Shamal (2-3) 82-69 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Al Shamal. Al Khor managed to win fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Al Shamal dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Al Khor's 36. They outrebounded Al Khor 42-28 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Shamal looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Mohamed Haras who had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 21 rebounds and 6 assists (on 16-of-20 shooting from the field). Swingman Abdul Kosar (192) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Four Al Shamal players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Dairese Gary (185-88, college: N.Mexico) who recorded 24 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and naturalized Bosnian forward Alen Hadzibegovic added 23 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Al Shamal moved-up to sixth place. Loser Al Khor still closes the standings with five games lost. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Rayyan.
