Regular Season Round 7: Tokyo Big Blue - Toyoda Gosei 59-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Tokyo Big Blue's (1-11) home loss to eighth ranked Toyoda Gosei (3-9) 59-79 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyoda Gosei. Tokyo Big Blue was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tokyo Big Blue to just 7 points in second quarter. Toyoda Gosei dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Big Blue's 28. They outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 49-29 including a 40-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toyoda Gosei looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for point guard Eiji Sumihiro (171-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 8 assists. Senegalese center Abibou Toure (202-90) helped adding 11 points and 16 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Yoshikawa Osamuakira (182-92) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Ryo Kuroki (192-93) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyoda Gosei moved-up to seventh place. Tokyo Big Blue lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Toyoda Gosei will face higher ranked Tokyo HT (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tokyo Big Blue will play against Saitama Broncos (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
