Regular Season Round 11: Bnei Hertzeliyya - Maccabi Ashdod 83-71

Very expected game in Hod Hasharon where 11th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (4-8) was defeated by fifth ranked Bnei Hasharon (7-4) 83-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Bnei Hasharon. Maccabi Ashdod managed to win fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Maccabi Ashdod 34-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. Bnei Hasharon looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American-Georgian point guard Taurean Green (183-85, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Jeff Adrien (201-86, college: Connecticut) helped adding 16 points and 10 rebounds. Five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Bnei Hasharon's coach Mickey Gorke used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Chase Simon (198-89, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Three Eye Sports) responded with 24 points and the other American import power forward Ed Daniel (201-90, college: Murray St.) scored 17 points. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to third place. Maccabi Ashdod lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with eight games lost. Bnei Hasharon will meet at home Hapoel Jerusalem (#4) in the next round. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Maccabi K/G (#12) in Kiryat Gat and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
