Regular Season Round 7: Fukuoka Rizing - Kanazawa Sam. 60-67

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when second ranked Kanazawa Sam. (17-5) defeated on the road leader Fukuoka Rizing (19-3) 67-60 on Saturday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fukuoka Rizing won fourth quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kanazawa Sam. made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Kanazawa Sam. outrebounded Fukuoka Rizing 45-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Ide Yuji (181-88) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Ghanian-British forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-88, college: Washington) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Kanazawa Sam.. They maintain second place with 17-5 record having just two points less than leader Fukuoka Rizing. Loser Fukuoka Rizing still keeps top position with three games lost. Kanazawa Sam. will face Tokyo Cinq R. (#5) at home in the next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play against Otsuka A. (#4) and hope to win that game.
