Second Stage Round 2: Kazygurt - Tobol 97-75

Very important is a road loss of Tobol (6-3) against Kazygurt (2-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Tobol was crushed by Kazygurt in Shymkent 97-75. Kazygurt forced 19 Tobol turnovers. Strangely Tobol outrebounded Kazygurt 44-29 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Tobol's players. Forward Zhandos Kaliyev (197-93) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Viktor Sotov (173-78) supported him with 23 points and 7 assists. Five Kazygurt players scored in double figures. Kazygurt's coach Muslim Shakirov felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds by forward Anton Bykov (200-89) did not help to save the game for Tobol. Swingman Maksim Voeykov (195-85) added 18 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Kazygurt will again play against Tobol in Kostanay in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Tobol will play on the road against Almat.Legion in Alma-Ata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
