Regular Season Round 27: Yamagata - Hiroshima D. 65-74

There was a small surprise when third ranked Dragonflies (20-6) won against on the road 3rd placed Yamagata (13-13) 74-65 on Sunday. Yamagata trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 19-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 65-74 at the end of the game. Yamagata was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Connor Lammert (206-94, college: Texas) who led his team to a victory with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Seiya Tanaka (186-91) contributed with 17 points for the winners. American center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import swingman Seth Tarver (196-88, college: Oregon St.) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Yamagata. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Dragonflies keep a position of league leader, which they share with Toyotsu FE and Shimane SM. Loser Yamagata keeps the third place with 13 games lost. Dragonflies will face Tokyo Excel. (#5) at home in the next round.
