Regular Season Round 11: El Jaysh - Qatar Club 108-85

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: El Jaysh (#1) and Qatar Sports Club (#5). El Jaysh (5-0) smashed visiting Qatar Sports Club (3-2) by 23 points 108-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Qatar Sports Club. The game without a history. El Jaysh led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Qatar Sports Club's 36. El Jaysh forced 21 Qatar Sports Club turnovers and had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) notched 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Dominic James (180-86, college: Marquette) supported him with 37 points (!!!), 6 assists and 8 steals. Four El Jaysh players scored in double figures. El Jaysh's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 41 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 8 assists by point guard James Justice (178-89, college: Martin Methodist) did not help to save the game for Qatar Sports Club. Forward Quinton Doggett (206-90, college: Southern) added 14 points and 13 rebounds. El Jaysh have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record. Qatar Sports Club at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Al Arabi. El Jaysh will play against bottom-ranked Al Khor (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qatar Sports Club will have a break next round.
