Regular Season Round 9: Shiraz a.s Pipe - Petrochimi 59-91

Superleague top team - Petrochimi (8-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Shiraz a.s Pipe (0-9) 91-59. The game without a history. Petrochimi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Shiraz a.s Pipe to just 6 points in first quarter. Petrochimi dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Shiraz a.s Pipe's 14. Shiraz a.s Pipe was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international point guard Hamed Hosseinzadeh (186-87) stepped up and scored 14 points for the winners and the former international forward Reza Lotfi (198-83) chipped in 13 points. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Babak Nezafat (190-77) with 20 points and Amir Allahverdi scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Petrochimi have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 8-1 record. Newly promoted Shiraz a.s Pipe still closes the standings with nine games lost. Petrochimi will play against league's second-placed Arak at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shiraz a.s Pipe will play against Naft Abadan (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
