Regular Season Round 12: Kolossos HH - AEK Athens 86-73

The most important game in the last round took place in Rodou between third ranked AEK Athens (9-3) and seventh ranked Kolossos HH (7-5) on Monday night. AEK Athens was defeated by Kolossos HH on the road 73-86. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Kolossos HH's pressure prevailed and they won that period 26-19 extending their advantage to 13 points. Kolossos HH outrebounded AEK Athens 42-26 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international forward Panagiotis Vasilopoulos (202-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Trevor Releford (183-91, college: Alabama) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Croatian point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, agency: XL Basketball Agency) replied with 12 points and 7 assists and naturalized Serbian Dusan Sakota (210-86, agency: BeoBasket) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for AEK Athens. Five Kolossos HH and four AEK Athens players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kolossos HH have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with PAOK. AEK Athens at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Kolossos HH is looking forward to face Aiolos Trikallon (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. AEK Athens will play against Aris (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
