An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Rishon Le-Zion. First ranked Maccabi T-A faced 4th placed Maccabi Rishon. Guests from Tel-Aviv (10-2) defeated host Maccabi Rishon (6-5) 93-84. Maccabi Rishon trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 23-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 84-93 at the end of the game. Maccabi T-A shot 60.3 percent from the field. The best player for the winners was naturalized American swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Guinea-Bissau-American center Colton Iverson (212-89, college: Colorado St., agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) produced 22 points and 8 rebounds and American-Belarusian point guard Maalik Wayns (185-91, college: Villanova) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Maccabi T-A and four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A maintains first place with 10-2 record. Defending champion Maccabi Rishon keeps the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Hapoel T-A and Hapoel J-M. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face Ironi Nahariya (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Rishon will play against Hapoel Eilat (#8) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
