Regular Season Round 12: Ironi Nes-Ziona - Hap.Haifa 92-73

National League top team - Ironi Nes-Ziona (8-4) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Hap.Haifa (6-5) in Nes Ziyona 92-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hap.Haifa. Ironi Nes-Ziona dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Hap.Haifa's 34. They outrebounded Hap.Haifa 40-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Ironi Nes-Ziona looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. The former international Raviv Pitshon (201-89) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Ironi Nes-Ziona players scored in double figures. Ironi Nes-Ziona's coach Roy Hagai used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Bahamas forward Jaraun Burrows (203-85, college: IPFW) who recorded 25 points and 7 rebounds and Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Ironi Nes-Ziona have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-4 record, which they share with Hapoel B/S. Newly promoted Hap.Haifa dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Macc.Rehovot. Ironi Nes-Ziona will meet Hapoel Afula (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hap.Haifa will play against Ironi Ramat Gan (#14) and hope to secure a win.
