Regular Season Round 15: KFUM Ostersund - Visby 78-87

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked KFUM Ostersund (6-9) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Visby Ladies (3-11) 87-78 on Wednesday. KFUM Ostersund trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 30-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 78-87 at the end of the game. Visby Ladies dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to KFUM Ostersund's 34 and made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded KFUM Ostersund 41-30 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Danielle McCray (185-93, college: Mississippi) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. Canadian center Jose-Ann Johnson (193-93, college: Duquesne) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Visby Ladies players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Taylor Wurtz (183-90, college: Wisconsin) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Taylor Proctor (183-94, college: USF) added 21 points respectively. KFUM Ostersund's coach Alberto Garcia rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Visby Ladies moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Telge. Newly promoted KFUM Ostersund keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Visby Ladies is looking forward to face higher ranked Lulea Basket (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KFUM Ostersund will play against the league's second-placed Alvik Basket (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
