Regular Season Round 6: Al Riyadi - Hoops 100-73

Bottom-ranked Hoops Club is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to fifth ranked Al Riyadi (4-2) 100-73. The game without a history. Al Riyadi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 63.1 percent from the field. Al Riyadi forced 21 Hoops Club turnovers and outrebounded them 42-29 including a 34-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Al Riyadi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The former international forward Ali Haidar (201-90, college: Michigan Tech) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 17 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Omar Thomas (196-82, college: UTEP) with 25 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import center Darrius Garrett (206-90, college: Richmond) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Al Riyadi have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Hoops Club at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Al Riyadi will play against Al Moutahed (#6) in Tripoli in the next round. Hoops Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Homenetmen.
