We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 11th ranked Kvarner (2-10) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked KK Skrljevo (3-10) 83-72 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-72. American guard Brian Williams (187-92, college: Jacksonville St.) stepped up and scored 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and swingman Dino Stipcic (196-89) chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four KK Skrljevo players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Mauro Veljacic (183-93) responded with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and power forward Andrej Stimac (204-79) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. KK Skrljevo moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Kvarner dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. KK Skrljevo will face higher ranked KK Zagreb (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kvarner will play against Gorica (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
