Regular Season Round 13: Alkar Sinj - Zadar 89-83 OT

Date: December 29, 2016
Alkar Sinj (4-8) outlasted KK Zadar (7-5) in overtime by six points 89-83. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But KK Zadar won fourth quarter 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where KK Zadar used huge pressure winning it 23-17 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 6-12. Alkar Sinj forced 19 KK Zadar turnovers. Strangely KK Zadar outrebounded Alkar Sinj 45-27 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Brandon Johnson (183-86, college: San Diego, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists and 6 steals. Center Hrvoje Vucic (212-91, college: Walsh) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Serbian-Slovenian power forward Ivan Marinkovic (209-93) answered with 24 points and 7 rebounds and Lovro Mazalin (204-97, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for KK Zadar. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Alkar Sinj moved-up to ninth place. KK Zadar at the other side dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Alkar Sinj's next round opponent will be league's second-placed GKK Sibenik on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
