Regular Season Round 23: Garzas - Barreteros 103-92

Fourth ranked Garzas (14-10) beat at home 6th ranked Barreteros (9-14) by 11 points 103-92, which is the biggest margin this round on Thursday night. The game was mostly controlled by Garzas. Barreteros was better in fourth quarter 34-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Garzas looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American forward Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) helped adding 19 points. Five Garzas players scored in double figures. Garzas' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Carl Jones (180-91, college: St.Joseph's) responded with 27 points and the other American import guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 20 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Garzas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Newly promoted Garzas maintains fourth place with 14-10 record. Barreteros lost fifth consecutive game. Barreteros at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost. Garzas will face league's second-placed Toros in Nuevo Laredo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barreteros will play at home against Ciudad (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
