Very predictable result when fifth ranked Unicaja Malaga (9-5) defeated at home 14th ranked Blusens Monbus (4-9) 87-69 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Unicaja Malaga. Blusens Monbus managed to win fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Unicaja Malaga made 21-of-22 free shots (95.5 percent) during the game, while Blusens Monbus only scored four points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was American point guard Kyle Fogg (190-90, college: Arizona) who scored 20 points. Polish swingman Adam Waczynski (199-89) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Shayne Whittington (209-91, college: W.Michigan) who recorded 12 points and point guard Francisco Cardenas (177-90) added 6 points and 8 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Unicaja Malaga maintains fifth place with 9-5 record, which they share with Baskonia. Blusens Monbus lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Unicaja Malaga will meet Sevilla (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Blusens Monbus will play against the league's leader FC Barcelona and hope to secure a win.
