Regular Season Round 14: Al Ahli - Qatar Club 81-77
Date: December 31, 2016
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Doha: Al Ahli (#6) and Qatar Sports Club (#4). Al Ahli (3-3) won against visiting Qatar Sports Club (3-3) 81-77. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. Al Ahli looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Serbian power forward Nemanja Miljkovic (204-90) who scored that evening 26 points and 6 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and international point guard Abdulrahman Al-Muftah (181-94) supported him with 22 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Even a double-double of 30 points and 12 rebounds by American forward Quinton Doggett (206-90, college: Southern) did not help to save the game for Qatar Sports Club. His fellow American import point guard James Justice (178-89, college: Martin Methodist) added 20 points and 8 assists for the guests. Al Ahli moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Qatar Club and Al Arabi. Al Ahli will meet bottom-ranked Al Khor (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Qatar Sports Club's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Arabi.
