Regular Season Round 12: UL Eagles - Belfast Star 64-65

A very close game took place in Limerick between Belfast Star and UL Eagles. Eighth ranked Belfast Star (5-7) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked UL Eagles (1-11). Belfast Star managed to escape with a 1-point win 65-64 on Saturday evening. Belfast Star forced 20 UL Eagles turnovers. Strangely UL Eagles outrebounded Belfast Star 48-27 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Dillon Stith (200-92, college: St.Vincent) who scored 24 points. International forward Keelan Cairns (211-92, college: Pennsylvania) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Ryan Wilson (195-88, college: William Penn) who recorded 26 points and 7 rebounds and French guard Jonathan Dogbo (193, college: Gannon) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Belfast Star moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Moycullen. UL Eagles lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Belfast Star will meet at home higher ranked Tralee (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. UL Eagles will play against KUBS (#11) in Greendale and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
