Regular Season Round 14: Al Arabi - Al Sadd 61-71
Date: December 31, 2016
Another interesting game was again a derby match of two teams from Doha: Al Sadd (#8) and Al Arabi (#4). Al Arabi was defeated at home 61-71 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Al Sadd. Al Arabi was better in fourth quarter 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Al Sadd especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was point guard Moustafa Essam Fouda (174-97) who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. American forward AJ West (206-91, college: Nevada) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Osama Adel added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Al Sadd (2-4) moved-up to seventh place. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Al Sadd's next round opponent will be Al Wakrah (#9) on the road. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Qatar Sports Club.
