There was no surprise when 9th ranked Shahrdari Gorgan (2-9) was defeated on the road by second ranked Arak (8-3) 88-74. The game was mostly controlled by Arak. Shahrdari Gorgan was better in third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Arak dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Shahrdari Gorgan's 30. Arak forced 19 Shahrdari Gorgan turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Hamed Afagh (193-83) who led the winners and scored 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Arak and four Shahrdari Gorgan players scored in double figures. Shahrdari Gorgan's coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Arak maintains second place with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Petrochimi, which they share with Naft Abadan. Shahrdari Gorgan lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Arak's next round opponent will be Naft Abadan (#3) on the road, which may be the game of the day. Shahrdari Gorgan will play against Tabriz (#5) and hope to win that game.
