Regular Season Round 29: Shimane SM - Aomori Watts 77-65

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Aomori Watts (12-15) were defeated on the road by third ranked Shimane Magic (21-6) 77-65 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Shimane Magic. Aomori Watts was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shimane Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Aomori Watts' 28. Shimane Magic forced 24 Aomori Watts turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) who scored 8 points and 13 rebounds. Center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) chipped in 16 points and 6 steals. Center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shimane Magic have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 21-6 record behind leader Fukushima. Aomori Watts at the other side keep the fifth position with 15 games lost. Shimane Magic will have a break next round. Aomori Watts will play on the road against Shinshu BW (#4) in Nagano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
