Regular Season Round 30: Toyota Alvark - Niigata Albirex 82-76

An interesting game for Toyota Alvark (22-5) which hosted in Tokyo 3rd ranked Niigata Albirex (15-14). First ranked Toyota Alvark managed to get a 6-point victory 82-76. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 46-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Troy Gillenwater (205-88, college: N.Mexico St.) notched 20 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) supported him with 12 points and 7 assists. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark's coach Takuma Ito used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds by American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) did not help to save the game for Niigata Albirex. Kimitake Sato (186-84) added 20 points. Toyota Alvark have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-5 record. Niigata Albirex lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with 14 games lost. Toyota Alvark will meet Sendai 89ers (#4) on the road in the next round. Niigata Albirex will play against Yokohama BC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
