Regular Season Round 11: Azad - Shiraz a.s Pipe 92-57

Bottom-ranked Shiraz a.s Pipe (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 92-57 loss to fourth ranked Azad (7-4) in Tehran on Monday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Azad. Shiraz a.s Pipe managed to win third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Shiraz a.s Pipe to just 3 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Shiraz a.s Pipe 40-22 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Azad shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for international Adnan Doraghi (190-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American swingman J.P. Prince (203-87, college: Tennessee) helped adding 21 points and 6 rebounds. Azad's coach Farzad Kouhian felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Amir Allahverdi responded with 13 points and 5 assists and the former international Reza Ranjbar scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Azad maintains fourth place with 7-4 record. Shiraz a.s Pipe lost their eleventh game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Azad's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tehran to the arena Chemidor.
