Regular Season Round 30: Nishinomiya S. - Kumamoto V. 80-66

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Kumamoto V. (23-5) in Hyogo on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Nishinomiya S. (19-9) 80-66. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kumamoto V.. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Nishinomiya S.. Kumamoto V. managed to win fourth quarter 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for swingman Naoki Tani (193-88) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 5 assists. Australian center Jordan Vandenberg (216-90, college: N.Carolina St.) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Joel James (208-94, college: N.Carolina) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Kumamoto V.Five Nishinomiya S. and four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nishinomiya S. maintains second position with 19-9 record having just three points less than leader Fukushima, which they share with Gunma. Kumamoto V. at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. Nishinomiya S. is looking forward to face Orange Vikings (#4) in Matsuyama in the next round. Kumamoto V. will play at home against Bambitious Nara and is hoping to win this game.
