Regular Season Round 20: BC Nokia - Helsinki Seagulls 77-69

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Helsinki Seagulls (15-3) on the court of eighth ranked BC Nokia on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by BC Nokia 77-69. Helsinki Seagulls trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 24-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-77 at the end of the game. Canadian Sefton Barrett (196-83, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Blacktop Management) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Eldar Skamo (198-86) contributed with 12 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Antto Nikkarinen (185-91, agency: Blacktop Management) replied with 14 points and 8 assists and the former international center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Helsinki Seagulls. Five BC Nokia and four Helsinki Seagulls players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BC Nokia (8-12) moved-up to seventh place. Helsinki Seagulls at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. BC Nokia are looking forward to face higher ranked Joensuun Kataja (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Helsinki Seagulls will have a break next round.
