Regular Season Round 17: Qatar Club - Al Arabi 78-98

The most interesting game of round 9 was a home defeat of 6th ranked Qatar Sports Club (3-4) by fifth ranked Al Arabi (4-3) who outscored them by 20 points 98-78. The game was mostly controlled by Al Arabi. Qatar Sports Club managed to win second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Qatar Sports Club 54-33 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Arabi looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) chipped in 29 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard James Justice (178-89, college: Martin Methodist) with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import forward Quinton Doggett (206-90, college: Southern) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds. Al Arabi moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Al Ahli. Qatar Sports Club lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Al Sadd. Al Arabi is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Al Khor (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Qatar Sports Club will play against Al Wakrah (#9) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
