Very expected game in Empoli where 16th ranked Firenze Enic (2-12) was defeated by fourth ranked USE Basket (8-5) 64-58 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Firenze Enic was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Daniele Mariotti (186-84) who scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Filippo Giannini (180-91) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Center Lorenzo Galmarini (200-95) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and swingman Lorenzo Passoni (195-97) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. USE Basket moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Firenze Enic dropped to the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. USE Basket will face Montecatiniterme (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite.
