Regular Season Round 18: Castello - Araberri 81-83

A very close game took place in Castellon between Araberri and Castello. Seventh ranked Araberri (11-7) got a very close victory on the road over 11th ranked Castello (8-10). Araberri managed to escape with a 2-point win 83-81 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Castello. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Castello won third quarter 19-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Araberri won last quarter 22-21. American-Nigerian guard Zaid Hearst (193, college: Quinnipiac) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Canadian guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (188-92, agency: Two Points) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Araberri players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Maodo Nguirane (210-93) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and guard Eduardo Duran (190-91, agency: Duran International) scored 17 points. Castello's coach Toni Ten tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Araberri moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Ourense and Coruna. Loser Castello keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Caceres and Palma. Araberri will meet at home league's second-placed Gipuzkoa in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Castello will play against Barca II (#18) in Barcelona and hope to secure a win.
