Regular Season Round 29: Puente Alto - Tinguiririca S.F. 65-81

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Puente Alto (10-20) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Tinguiririca S.F. (8-22) 81-65 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-65. Tinguiririca S.F. made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game, while Puente Alto only scored three points from the stripe. Argentinian power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (196-88) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Venezuelan center Jose Juan Bravo (202-86, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 17 points. Venezuelan guard Jovanni Diaz (195-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and Venezuelan forward Lenin Lopez (198-91) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Puente Alto players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tinguiririca S.F. maintains eleventh place with 8-22 record. Puente Alto lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 20 games lost. Tinguiririca S.F. will meet at home higher ranked Espanol de Talca (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Puente Alto will play against Universidad Catolica (#12) in Santiago and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
