Regular Season Round 12: Naft Abadan - Arak 86-80

An interesting game for Naft Abadan (9-3) which hosted in Abadan second-best Arak (8-4). Third ranked Naft Abadan managed to get a 6-point victory 86-80. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Arak won third quarter 26-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naft Abadan dominated on the defensive end, holding Arak to just 5 points in second quarter. They also forced 23 Arak turnovers and outrebounded them 48-34 including a 19-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Arak was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90, agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds and the former international center Meisam Mirzaei (210-92) who added 13 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Georgian forward Quinton Hosley (201-84, college: Fresno St.) with 21 points and 5 rebounds and international center Asghar Kardoust (212-86) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Five Naft Abadan and four Arak players scored in double figures. Naft Abadan have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Arak at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Azad. Naft Abadan will play against Chemidor (#6) in Tehran in the next round. Arak will play at home against Shiraz a.s Pipe and hopes to get back on the winning track.
