Regular Season Round 24: Garzas - Toros 93-83

The most important game in the last round took place in Plata Hidalgo between second ranked Toros (16-9) and fourth ranked Garzas (15-10) on Thursday night. Toros were defeated by Garzas on the road 93-83. The game was mostly controlled by Garzas. Toros managed to win fourth quarter 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) who scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. International center Israel Gutierrez (206-93) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Garzas' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) who recorded 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Noe Alonzo (200-83, college: Grand Canyon) added 23 points respectively. Four Toros players scored in double figures. Garzas have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Newly promoted Garzas maintains fourth position with 15-10 record. Toros at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the second place with nine games lost. They share the position with Soles. Garzas are again looking forward to face higher ranked Toros (#3) in Nuevo Laredo in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Toros will have a break next round.
