Regular Season Round 12: Petrochimi - Army 87-70
Date: January 5, 2017
Superleague top team - Petrochimi (11-1) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they beat seventh ranked Army (4-8) in Bandar Imam 87-70. The game without a history. Petrochimi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 60.8 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Petrochimi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. The winners were led by American swingman James White (201-82, college: Cincinnati, agency: Three Eye Sports) who scored that evening 21 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard Gerald Robinson (185-89, college: Georgia) supported him with 12 points and 4 assists. Four Petrochimi players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 4 assists by the former international Vahid Dalirzahan (199-95) did not help to save the game for Army. The former international swingman Ashkan Khalilnejad (191-91) added 14 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Petrochimi have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-1 record. Loser Army dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. Petrochimi will meet Tabriz (#5) on the road in the next round. Army will play against Shahrdari Gorgan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
