The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Burgos (13-6) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Leche Rio Breogan (12-6) 92-83. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Burgos. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-83. Leche Rio Breogan dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Burgos' 24. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian-Italian guard Juan Fernandez (193-90, college: Temple) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 6 assists. American center Matt Stainbrook (208-92, college: Xavier, agency: Three Eye Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Leche Rio Breogan players scored in double figures. Center Javier Vega (205-88) answered with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Icelandic point guard Aegir Steinarsson (185-91, college: Newberry, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 13 points in the effort for Burgos. Leche Rio Breogan maintains fifth place with 12-6 record. Burgos at the other side dropped to the second position with six games lost. They share it with Palencia and Gipuzkoa GBC. Leche Rio Breogan are looking forward to face Caceres Basket (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Burgos will play against the league's leader Oviedo CB (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
