Regular Season Round 12: Tarvas - TLU/Kalev 70-80
Date: January 6, 2017
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked BC Rakvere (3-8) lost at home to eighth ranked TLU/Kalev (2-9) 80-70. The game was mostly controlled by TLU/Kalev. BC Rakvere was better in third quarter 19-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Kristo Saage (186-85) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Martin Jurtom (200-94) who added 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Justin Baker (203-89, college: Utah Valley) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Oliver Metsalu (196-93) scored 7 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. TLU/Kalev maintains eighth position with 2-9 record. BC Rakvere lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with eight games lost. TLU/Kalev will play against higher ranked Parnu (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BC Rakvere will play against the league's second-placed TU/Rock where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
