Regular Season Round 7: Moutahed - Al Riyadi 86-84

The most exciting game of round 7 in the Pepsi LBL took place in Tripoli. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Al Riyadi (4-3) to seventh ranked Al Moutahed (3-4) 86-84 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Riyadi. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 26-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American guard Dewarick Spencer (192-82, college: Arkansas St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Cleveland Melvin (203-91, college: De Paul) helped adding 20 points and 9 rebounds. Al Moutahed's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Serbian swingman Branko Cvetkovic (200-84, agency: AproK Sports Group) responded with 26 points and Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Moutahed moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Sagesse. Defending champion Al Riyadi keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Tadamon. Al Moutahed is looking forward to face Sagesse (#7) in Beirut in the next round. Al Riyadi's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Homenetmen.
