Date: January 7, 2017
The game between second ranked Roche (11-1) and 7th ranked Toulouse (6-6) in La Roche on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Roche outscored guests from Toulouse 87-49. The game without a history. Roche led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Toulouse to just 7 points in second quarter. Roche dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Toulouse's 28. They outrebounded Toulouse 44-26 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Roche looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Toulouse's players. The winners were led by DR Congolese center Bernadette Ngoyisa (195-82) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds and guard Johana Tayeau (173-89) supported her with 14 points. Four Roche players scored in double figures. Even 13 points and 6 rebounds by American guard Sydney Wallace (173-93, college: Georgia Tech, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Toulouse. Croatian center Emilija Podrug (190-79) added 8 points and 7 rebounds. Roche have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Avenir. Loser Toulouse dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. Roche will meet Bretagne Basket (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Toulouse will play against COB Calais (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
