Regular Season Round 13: Empoli - Milano 71-64

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Empoli. Second ranked Empoli faced 3rd placed Milano. Host Empoli (11-2) defeated guests from Milano (9-4) 71-64. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Milano won second period 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Empoli had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Gabriele Narviciute (190-90) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92, agency: Two Points) answered with 16 points and power forward Stefania Guarneri (182-95) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Milano. Empoli maintains second place in A2 with 11-2 record behind leader Sesto SG. Milano at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Empoli will play against Scrivia (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Milano will play against Costa Masnaga and hopes to get back on the winning track.
