A very close game took place in Bembibre between Gipuzkoa UPV and Socinsa Bembibre. Eleventh ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (6-8) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Socinsa Bembibre (6-8). Gipuzkoa UPV managed to escape with a 2-point win 70-68 in the fight for the seventh place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-18. But Socinsa Bembibre won second period 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Four Gipuzkoa UPV players scored in double figures. Even 23 points by Bosnian center Dragana Svitlica (190-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) did not help to save the game for Socinsa Bembibre. International forward Vega Gimeno (185-91, college: Robert Morris, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 15 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the hosts. Gipuzkoa UPV moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Socinsa Bembibre. Gipuzkoa UPV will meet at home Cadi La Seu (#10) in the next round. Socinsa Bembibre will play against Mann Filter in Zaragoza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
