Regular Season Round 14: Contern - Musel Pikes 67-70

The most exciting game of round 14 in the Total League took place in Luxembourg. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Contern (9-5) to first ranked Musel Pikes (12-2) 70-67 on Saturday evening. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Musel Pikes dominated on the defensive end, holding Contern to just 7 points in fourth quarter. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Jarmar Gulley (196-91, college: Missouri St.) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Power forward Clancy Rugg (203-91, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Jesse Morgan (196-91, college: Temple) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Manny Atkins (198-91, college: Georgia St.) added 21 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Musel Pikes have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-2 record, which they share with Amicale. Contern at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Etzella. Musel Pikes is looking forward to face Etzella (#4) in Ettelbruck in the next round. Contern will play on the road against Sparta in Bertrange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
