Regular Season Round 8: Tokyo HT - Toyoda Gosei 89-56

Very predictable result when third ranked Tokyo HT (16-8) outscored at home 8th ranked Toyoda Gosei (3-11) 89-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Tokyo HT. Toyoda Gosei managed to win fourth quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tokyo HT dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Toyoda Gosei's 36. Tokyo HT forced 22 Toyoda Gosei turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tokyo HT made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Brian Harper (204-85, college: Paine, agency: HMS) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) who added 10 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Point guard Ryoma Yanagiuchi (182-92) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Shunji Tateno (182-93) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tokyo HT maintains third position with 16-8 record having five points less than leader Fukuoka Rizing. Loser Toyoda Gosei keeps the eighth place with 11 games lost. Tokyo HT will meet Saitama Broncos (#7) on the road in the next round. Toyoda Gosei will play against the league's second-placed Kanazawa Sam. in Ishikawa and hope to secure a win.
