Very expected game when 11th ranked Minas (5-7) lost on the road to second ranked Brasilia (9-3) 92-79 on Saturday. Brasilia looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for Pilar Alves (201-84) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Jefferson Campos (191-91) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Brasilia players scored in double figures. American guard Scott Rodgers (191-87, college: Drexel, agency: DTMones) answered with 11 points and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and the other American import forward Drew Maynard (200-89, college: Rochester, MI) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Minas. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brasilia maintains second place with 9-3 record having just two point less than leader Flamengo. Loser Minas dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Brasilia will have a break next round. Minas will play at home against Macae (#14) and hope to win that game.
