Regular Season Round 12: Rapla - TTU 101-91

Date: January 7, 2017
An interesting game for Rapla (9-2) which hosted in Rapla 4th ranked TTU (6-4). Second ranked Rapla managed to get a 10-point victory 101-91. The game was mostly controlled by Rapla. TTU was better in third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TTU was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Dutch center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, college: Portland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Puerto Rican guard Rasham Suarez (190-92, college: S.Mississippi) who added 22 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Sten Olmre (192-95) with 18 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Joonas Jarvelainen (202-90, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Four Rapla and five TTU players scored in double figures. TTU's coach Rait Kabin rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rapla have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with TU/Rock and Kalev/Cramo. TTU at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Rapla will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. TTU will play on the road against Valga (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
