Regular Season Round 13: Hainaut - Villeneuve 61-72

Rather expected game in Saint-Amand where 9th ranked Hainaut (4-8) was defeated by sixth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (8-5) 72-61. It looked good early as Hainaut took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Villeneuve D'Ascq took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 11 points. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a very good performance for the former international power forward Marielle Amant (190-89) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists. International forward Valerianne Ayayi (184-94) contributed with 0 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American power forward Jacinta Monroe (193-88, college: Florida St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and Spanish guard Laura Garcia (176-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Hainaut. Villeneuve D'Ascq moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bourges. Hainaut at the other side keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Tarbes (#12) at home and are hoping to win another game. Hainaut will play against Nice and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
