Regular Season Round 13: Viterbo - Civitanova 34-59

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Civitanova (8-4) outleveled on the road 10th ranked Viterbo (3-9) 59-34 on Saturday. The game without a history. Civitanova led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Viterbo to just 7 points in third quarter. Civitanova held Viterbo to an opponent 21.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Civitanova forced 23 Viterbo turnovers and outrebounded them 47-32 including a 39-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Serbian power forward Kristina Ostojic (190-91) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Veronica Perini (175-88) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Chiara Flauret (165-95) produced 13 points and guard Arianna Puggioni (170-99) added 9 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Civitanova maintains third place in A2 with 8-4 record having five points less than leader Sesto SG. Loser Viterbo keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. Civitanova will face Pordenone (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Viterbo will play against Fanola SML and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
