Regular Season Round 17: ALS Basket - Souffel 89-98

Leader Souffelweyersheim delivered the fourteenth win on Saturday night. This time they beat 12th ranked ALS Basket (8-9) 98-89 in Andrezieux. The guests trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. Souffelweyersheim made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Fabyon Harris (180-91, college: Texas A&M) who scored 37 points (!!!). Lithuanian power forward Giedrius Staniulis (205-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Bosnian power forward Nemanja Kovanusic (204-93) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Perris Blackwell (205-91, college: Washington) added 25 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Souffelweyersheim maintains first place with 14-3 record. ALS Basket lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Souffelweyersheim are looking forward to face Lourdes-Tarbes (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ALS Basket will play against Caen and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
