No shocking result in a game when third ranked Valmiera (9-7) defeated at home 5th ranked Barons Riga (7-8) 100-89. The game was mostly controlled by Valmiera. Barons Riga was better in fourth quarter 29-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valmiera had a 30-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international Arturs Berzins (204-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall) contributed with 21 points and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Tyler Larson (190-91, college: S.Dakota) answered with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Lithuanian Tauras Jogela (202-93, agency: Players Group) added 20 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Barons Riga. Five Valmiera and four Barons Riga players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Valmiera. Defending champion maintains third place with 9-7 record having four points less than leader Ventspils. Barons Riga at the other side dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost.
