Regular Season Round 13: HNMKY U23 - JyWe 86-82

Everything went according to plan in Helsinki where eighth ranked HNMKY U23 (6-8) beat 10th ranked JyWe (4-10) 86-82. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-16. But JyWe won second period 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when HNMKY U23 won last quarter 21-19. HNMKY U23 outrebounded JyWe 51-30 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for guard Jyri Eboreime (185-98) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Karri Kallela (200-93) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Russian power forward Alexei Ekimov (210-81) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Lauri Salovaara (190-94) added 25 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for JyWe. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. HNMKY U23 maintains eighth place in Division with 6-8 record. Newly promoted JyWe dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. HNMKY U23's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ura Basket (#3) in Kaarina and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JyWe will play at home against Korikouvot (#4) and hope to win that game.
