Regular Season Round 13: Lucca - Napoli 71-43

Seria A1 top team - Lucca (12-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Napoli (8-5) 71-43. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Napoli. The game without a history. Lucca led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Napoli to just 5 points in third quarter. Lucca dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Napoli's 24. Lucca forced 20 Napoli turnovers and outrebounded them 40-26 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American-New Zealand guard Jillian Harmon (185-87, college: Stanford) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. International point guard Francesca Dotto (170-93, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Lucca's coach Mirco Diamanti felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Theresa Plaisance (196-92, college: LSU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and Greek-American guard Jacki Gemelos (182-88, college: USC) added 5 points in the effort for Napoli. Lucca have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-1 record. Napoli at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Ragusa. Lucca will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Napoli will play at home against San Martino (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
